This is my first time using Trugreen for my lawn treatment (fertilization and weed control). Overall, their service is very unsatisfactory: Their crews are not knowledgeable in recognizing the different types of grass. They treated cold weather grass such as tall fescue the same way they treated hot weather grass, such as zoysia. They applied a too strong weed control solution onto my zoysia that resulted in large sections of my lawn being burnt. The worse part was that they were not careful around plants, they sprayed weed control solution onto my young jujubee tree that some of their leaves get burnt and other leaves are wilted (I hope my expensive young jujubee tree survives).
UPDATE: July 30
Trugreen contacted me about my review and sent a representative (Howard) to inspect the entire yard on July 28. Howard is courteous and knowledgeable. He took some pictures and explained to me that Trugreen may do something to compensate the dammage made to my jujube tree. He pointed out that my lawn is suffering from a fungi disease; perhaps, he could convince his company to provide a free fungicide for me.
On 30 July, Howard came back and applied my entire yard with fungicide without charge.
I don't know if this fungicide application would do anything to improve my lawn, only time can tell. But it was a nice gesture from Trugreen.

Always great service and hold themselves accountable for the services they provide. My lawn looked awful and had many different types of weeds. A year later,-my lawn looks green and beautiful. I recommended TruGreen to friends who are now using their services, as well. Agents that perform the service always ring the bell and ensure we know what they are about to perfom before they start and after.

Very Unreliable and unprofessional. They only came one time and then canceled all following appointments for no reasons. I wished I had never hired them. I have called them personally more than 10 times and nobody take responsibility. I will cancel my service , it was waste of 2k. I had no issue with the amount they charge if they actually provide the service but this was total Waste of time an waste of money.

This business is a JOKE!!! If giving them a one star would have any impact I would but generally it doesn't, but I'm giving it two stars because of the lawn service technicians.
I have been using Tru Green for +3 years and have almost never had any issues with the service techs until this year. I have had three separate treatments that the tech did not leave a service ticket. I use the tickets to followup on my account and after the last treatment where no ticket was left, I checked my account to see that I was paid up in full. While that is not a big issue, the issue I do have is the customer service as well as an employee who pretended to be a supervisor only to try to up-sell an additional service for $500.
After receiving service in early July, the tech did not leave a service ticket..for the third time. A few days passed and Norma Jean showed up at my front door, advising me that she was a field supervisor checking on the quality of my yard and to address any issues I had with their service. I shared with her my issue of some techs not leaving a ticket let alone a note about any issues they see during their treatments. After our chat she went through my yard, pulled a few weeds out, and left a Tru Green note on the condition of my yard. The note had a header of someone else's name, address, and information.....not a good look. A couple of days later Norma Jean called me attempting to up-sell a weed treatment service for an additional $500. In the conversation, she said that I had misheard her and that she wasn't a supervisor, I told her I wasn't interested.
Shrugged it off, but a few weeks later I got an email from Tru Green threatening to report me to collections as my account was overdue. I spoke with customer service while logged into my account and saw no outstanding amount nor invoices to be paid. In addition, no attempts of contacting me were made in advising me about my outstanding balance.....only to get this threatening email out of the blue that I'll be reported to collections. After speaking with CS then paying the balance in full, I was advised that Norma Jean was not a supervisor. I then asked to speak with the Lorton Branch Manager which I was told would call me back within 48 hours since they were unavailable.
I did not hear back from the Branch Manager after that initial message nor any of the several messages I left with the branch office over a two week period. So I'll be finishing my service with Tru Green at the end of this season and moving on to another lawn care service, one that has come HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by some neighbors.
I cannot nor will not make any suggestion or recommendation to anyone to use or to consider Tru Green after this.
After these experiences, I WILL MAKE IT MY MISSION IN LIFE TO TELL ALL OF MY NEIGHBORS TO NOT USE TRU GREEN FOR THEIR LAWN CARE!
UPDATE Sept 4, 2026:
I have not yet had any of my phone messages returned, one through customer service and two left directly with the office.
It should not take me to write a review to get a response from TruGreen, rather they should return any one of my messages or any from their customers within a 24/48 hour period which is what customer service states. Directly to the Lorton Va office Branch Manager/Owner - I should not have to send you my information for any reason because of a negative review. You should return all customer messages you receive in a timely manner then no negative review would be left.
What I see is a company/office that provides decent service at the beginning then after some time, a few months or a year, the real company shows up with its low quality service.
This experience has cemented my decision to discontinue my service with them. I have spoken with all of my neighbors who use them and they are looking to leave as well, they expressed having similar issues. I've spoken with a highly recommended lawn service company which has offered a neighborhood package of 20% off for the entire season if there are 6 of us that sign up together, applicable for each of us. My neighbors are on board.

They came out and sprayed the yard. they did get rid of all the weeds, but now I just have dirt.Ask them to put grassy down. They said they do that in the fall. Very unhappy and they no longer are going to do my yard.
